Placebo and heavy bleeding?

this is my first month on bc. i quick started the bc as advised by my doctor because of irregular periods. i started my placebo pills this past sunday but my period started 8 days prior. it began very light but since ive started my placebos my period have been very very very heavy. should i continue with the bc next week or should i see my doctor for a dnc? is this heavy bleeding normal?
